Cartoons are fun. Well almost. If you are like me you certainly love to watch cartoon figures. But drawing cartoons is another story particularly if you are not aware of the basics. If the thought of creating beautiful cartoon characters gives you high, read on, here you will find some tips that you can readily use to improve your skills and reduce the time taken to create beautiful cartoon characters. There are certain things that are same for every style of drawing, be it realistic drawing or cartoony, now we will go quickly through the basics before getting specific to cartoony style.

Select your tools wisely. Clean your hands before starting your drawing. The paper you use for your work should be of good quality. Low grade, off colored paper will make your drawing look pale. Your first sketch should be made with light lines and for finalizing you should use deep-colored and prominent lines-so choose your pencils carefully.

Many times beginners find drawing a smooth line difficult. Remember drawing smooth lines will be easier if you do not support your hand on your wrist like we are used to do while writing. Doodling and drawing some circular shapes just before you start will also help you to draw smoothly.

Learn to draw facial features and hand carefully. Hands are more difficult. Experts often judge a person’s drawing ability from how well he can draw human hands. So practice drawing hands with care.

Study about basic forms and proportions of human body. Learn about basics of human anatomy and various ratios of human figures. As a cartoon creator you will have certain liberties, you do not need to bind yourself with strict body proportions rules. You can draw four fingered hand that makes your work a bit easier. But one challenge you will face while drawing cartoons -cartoon characters needs to be more expressive and certainly you have to create this expressiveness with some lines drawn with your pencil.

For the painting contractor that follows color trends and keeps his eyes open to what is happening in the painting and decorating market, he can’t help but conclude that color is more important to the homeowner than ever. If you have some doubts about this, then just browse through some of the most popular home-furnishings stores. There you will find up to date color charts and books from the leading paint manufacturers to help customers coordinate colors that are in vogue with their furnishings.

Paint manufactures spend tremendous amounts of money on studying and interpreting color trends. If they fail to get the colors right during a trend shift, it will mean a tremendous loss in sales to their competitors who’s color palettes reflect the shift in color trends. Not only will the paint manufactures loose direct sales to the homeowner, but they will lose a lot of sales to the painting contractor looking to make their customers happy. Getting their color palettes right is paramount.

Paint manufactures determine color trends through the study of the following social dynamics.

1. The economy
2. Politics
3. Technology
4. Lifestyle issues
5. The green Movement
6. Pop culture

The above list is only some of the dynamics that are considered in their studies. From these studies one thing has become clear about the year 2009; color is going to be very popular.

Because of my trade, I am exposed to the new color palettes and the new trends in color they represent. There most certainly has been a recent shift in peoples taste in color. If you compare the color forecast of Rohm & Hass Paint quality institute with the color palettes of Benjamin Moore, Pittsburgh Paints, Porter Paints, and Sherwin Williams you will find there are a lot of similarities in the colors offered.

An international association of design professionals called The Color Marketing Group, who are responsible for keeping their finger on the pulse of color trends, forecast that in the spring of 2009, consumers will be moving to pinks with a bluish tinge, earthier greens, and the bright yellows, turquoises, magentas and the brightest whites.

Almost every collection of colors has been influenced by environmentalism. For many Paint companies green is becoming the new neutral tone. Eco friendly colors of hues of fern, palm, sage and pine mixed with clear blues or aqua to give a sense of outdoors. The combining of warm browns with sandy tans to project an eco friendly aura will be popular.

Another example of the trend is a Benjamin Moore color called Split Pea. Split Pea is forecasted to be one of their hottest colors in 09.

The director of color marketing for Sherwin Williams says that peoples taste for the color green are shifting to greens with grayer hues.

Similarly, the “Voice Of Color” program of Porter Paints and Pittsburgh Paints features the following very diverse eco palette of colors.

1. Fair trade warm organic colors

2. Eco Techno balance between core colors and neutrals

3. The EcoLoco colors of bold pink, blue and orange meeting acidic green symbolizing expressions of freedom

4. The Vintage colors featuring a wintry palette of pale, spidery blue to paper-turned-creamy-yellow with age

Rich and Restful colors are going to be popular. Rohm & Hass has a palette of colors called Returning Home that features rich cranberry reds, pumpkin orange, warm browns and deep-toned blues. Similarly Benjamin Moore has a palette of colors called Homey which includes color names such as Cherokee Brick, Gypsy Pink.

Plums and violet colors continue their regal influence, however orange is becoming more muted and a bit more elegant looking.

Designers and architects who generally lead the fashion pack are putting more importance on cleaner less muddled colors of dark greens, periwinkle, mauve and medium neutral with clean colors of red, yellow, green, peach and blue.

My recommendation as a painting contractor to the trend conscious homeowner is to first find out when the new color charts will be on display in your leading paint stores, and then compare the colors of 3 or 4 different paint manufactures. An analysis of these color palettes will give you an idea of near future color trends.

Free face painting patterns are as close as your fingertips and your imagination. You should first try practicing drawing and coloring your ideas onto paper first. If your mind is drawing a blank canvas, let your fingers do the walking through the huge expanse of the internet world.

A newer addition to the face painting supply family is the powder based paint stick. It activates with the use of a wet paintbrush, dries quickly, and doesn’t melt. Melting is a disappointment to both the artist and the receiver of the artwork!

Teenagers can be a great help at creating patterns. Adept at experimenting with make-up, many times having taken their own art classes in school, and still in touch with what is popular for the younger aged children, they would be flattered to share their skills with a parent in need or maybe just a single older friend having to come up with ideas for themselves. If you will be attending a party and just need help painting your own face, it could be fun and rewarding to enlist a young friend’s help.

Many parents just can’t afford the costumes or simply don’t want to invest in something that will be outgrown before the next year’s event. This makes face painting a great choice. You can paint the right face and wear one of your own outfits to make it work!

A bunny face is a simple face painting pattern to follow as well. The most relevant feature would be the buck teeth, followed by the whiskers. If you want a mouse pattern, this is easy to follow. Use a dot of paint to accent the nose. Place tiny dots atop each side of the top lip, apply whiskers coming away from the dots towards each cheek area. If you want a little more pizzazz, add darkened eyebrows, maybe creating funny shapes for them.

Using a timer with children could be helpful. They should enjoy having their picture taken as well, for addition to your portfolio and to use as an example for other customers. Will you want to learn how to accept credit cards for payment with bigger crowds and more involved artwork?

Even when using face painting patterns rather than freestyle take care when painting around the eye area. Besides it being a sensitive area with thinner skin and not wanting to get too close to the eye itself with the paint, a squirmy recipient could create a poke in the eye with your brush if you aren’t paying close attention.

The flat wash technique is one of the more basic and common of the various techniques. The flat wash technique is usually used when large areas of the canvas need to be covered. You will want to lay out the watercolor wash evenly and uniformly. First you will need to dampen the area of your canvas where you will be applying the watercolor wash. Make certain to have an adequate amount of water and pigment available before your start. If you should have to stop for any reason, it will be difficult to match your layers.. It is better to have more than less available. The angle at which you apply the watercolor wash is important. If the angle is too steep your wash will run down the paper. If the angle is too level, then you won’t have enough movement. Use a large brush for this technique and start your first stroke at the top of the paper. Continue applying the watercolor wash going down the paper, but alternate sides as you move down.

With the dry brush technique, your paper is completely dry. You then apply a fairly dry pigment with very little water to the paper. The dry brush technique should only be used where you want to draw focus or create texture in your painting. It’s always a good idea to use various watercolor brush techniques in a single painting. This results in a more interesting painting. The glazing technique is when you apply a thin transparent color over a completed dry layer of color. This technique creates some very interesting blends of new color. You will need to use a non-staining, transparent color for this watercolor technique. You should use a soft brush and don’t apply that much pressure. Wet in wet is simply applying a wet wash over a wet surface. You start by evenly wetting the paper with a brush or spray bottle. Have a sponge handy to absorb any excess water. You want your paper to be evenly saturated. Then apply your watercolor.

One of the specific requirements is the light source. It should be steady and the artist is allowed to use artificial lights and reflectors. A window that faces north is good rather than one that faces east. The reason for this is quite obvious. The rapid change of the sun’s position affects the lighting and after awhile, the you will lose the first image that you sought in the first place. Another thing to prepare is the composition of the subject. You must be sure that it is how you want the objects to be arranged. You may draw several preliminary sketches using different compositions and carefully study each of them. Choose the one that would give the most balanced and harmonious pattern of light and dark. The next step is to decide what approach you will use. Except when you’re aiming for “photo-realism”, you don’t really want to paint the subject as exactly as you see it. Therefore, decide what is your purpose, concept, or even message for making this still life. This step is most crucial because, based on your decision, you would determine how you would proceed. Or you may wish to use the direct painting approach. Should you decide this, a good thing to remember is to decide one center of interest. This center interest ideally is the most lighted of all objects and others are partly concealed by shadows. Of course, the surface on which the center of interest lies should be lighted too. But the line of shadow beneath the objects should ideally be the darkest in the picture. Another thing to keep in mind are the distinct shapes of your objects and the ground plane. Establish these early on and never lose them in the process. And finally, after you have applied all the necessary strokes and colors, step back and scrutinize your work. Add finishing touches. For example, if the overall impression is rather dull, consider adding another color, perhaps a complement to one of the colors you’ve applied.

An art directory is similar to an ordinary web directory such that it is an extensive catalogue of web addresses which are indexed by subject and relevance. It can store information about an artist, a musician, an actor, or an art shop. Art directories help people to easily locate an artwork of a specific artist or of a specific genre. Art directories play an important role in promoting the arts and artwork by providing a visual door to the outside world with the help of internet.

Selected directories, on the other hand, comprise of websites and pages which have been vetted. Selected directories provide links to other websites and documents relating to a specific theme or subject. These directories help you to find out documents or materials provided by experts in each field. Some of the popular selected directories include About.com and Virtual Library. Art directories can be any of these types. If your website is included in a popular web directory, then people or art buffs can type queries into the directory and the directory will look for relevant matches. A web surfer can also look in the indexed categories of the art directory. Some main categories can also include sub categories which pertain to various aspects of the primary category.

Houses gather the most of our individuality as well as sense of wellbeing. For this reason, they necessitate our focus on their maintenance and /or readjustment, at least occasionally. A house can last for a lifetime, as long as one pays attention to its maintenance. Nowadays, many professionals can help us maintain our home in good shape. Minneapolis painting services cover two functions: it is of utmost importance for the protection of the home because professional painting keeps the moisture away from the painted surface. The second function is in the hands of a professional Minneapolis painter, able to give your house the beauty and the color that you desire. Thus, your house will be both beautiful and protected.

When painting the exterior of your home, certified Minneapolis painting services will consider factors such as weather resistant paint materials. The local weather factors are always an object of deliberation when it comes to exterior house painting. Your home can become a dream house in a short time interval, as long as you resort to professionals who know their business. When choosing a color for the interior of your home, remember that light colors make rooms seem larger, while darker colors have exactly the adverse effect. Once you have chosen the color you desire, be careful about selecting the proper type of interior paint. You should never be cheap when buying house-painting products, since the quality of the products matters in the case of painting materials. Very cheap painting materials are of low quality and in time, they will bring you unpleasant surprises. On the other hand, painters will apply easily quality paint, since it covers the surface better and it supports washing. One of our qualified Minneapolis painters will be able to tell you how much paint you need for the surface you desire to cover.
